Hard to put things in scale but here goes...The distance across the McMurdo sound is approx 50miles and the TransAntarctics pictured here are about 13,000ft tall. A short walk to the cliffs revealed impressive cracks in the sea-ice where Weddell seals could sneak through and lounge about.
