Setting up camp

We were on the ground for about 4hrs before the helo arrived with the sling load of all our essential gear for camp. I like how Kaelin expressed our camp set up: Wow!, this is a lot like car camping, but extreme. She couldn't be more spot on. All said, we had our three mountain tents, a cook tent (pictured here) and a Scott Tent, named after Sir Robert Falcon Scott R.N. While the mountain tents are certainly sufficient for what we experienced, even the high winds that blew through on occasion, the Scott tents I could well imagine would be preferable in more dire circumstances. In our case, the Scott tent was more or less an 'extra'. To be completely candid, we ultimately decided to park the hutson-throne in the Scott tent along with the U-barrels to offer some semblence of privacy. In the end, it succeeded in that end but also facilitated a containment, and thus a concentration, of odors...resulting in a most unique boquet to accompany my 7am ...ahem...duty. The funny thing, in my opinion, is that part of the functionality of the Scott tent is the doorway which is designed to keep out the high-winds associated with polar exploration. Thus, entry is through a circular portal that requires one to become essentially penitant during entry. In our case, this means that upon entry to the tent you invariably find yourself kneeling before the throne each time you enter the tent.
