Fun in Antarctica During the Holidays

Friends, Family and Hosers,

I have accumulated several great pics over the past few weeks and I think that the best way to post them will be in a couple groups. Please keep checking in during the next several days for the newest group of pics. Tonights post is several pictures of us having fun during our christmas break...celebrating with ol' fashin' beer drinkin' and also bowling a few frames. This one goes out to my good friend Sara "DangerFern" who was the only person to write me an email asking if I'd had a chance to check out McMurdo's classic bowling alley. It is all hand-operated, the only one of its kind in the world. I've been told that USAP has received offers from such groups as the Smithsonian and also the original manufacturer (Brunswick Inc.) for purchase of these lanes to put them into a museum back in the US. Apparently they aren't aware of the fact that we're still using them. I must admit it's pretty cool to have some dude behind the pin-setter giving you a shout-out to let you know when he's all set for you to bowl. He also has a cymbal back there for the rare occasion that I actually got a spare or a strike. One small crash for a spare, big noise for a strike - It was pretty sweet.
